I have just received a free 200 GB hard disk for a PC, I needed something to back up to and this is ideal. I posted on freecycle for a external drive caddy, and someone emailed me and said 'Go to Maplin'; that wasn't really the point of posting on freecycle!
To work around this problem, I have installed HDD in my work PC and it just worked, I changed the jumpers to slave and plugged it in and it found it straight away. Don't you love it when things just work? Well I have resisted the temptation to 'just go to Maplin' and I have thought around the problem and so I am copying my laptop files onto my 8GB usb stick and then onto the backup drive. Job done! OK so its a bit slower, but its free and green!

When I think about Green PCs, I'm usually reminded of a company called Userful. I've used their software and it's great stuff. They just recently set a world record in Brazil delivering over 365,000 desktops. If you guys are really into green computing, check them out: http://www.userful.com
